Job Title: Mechanical Engineer

Minimum Requirements: A bachelor's degree in Mechanical or Biomedical Engineering, or a related field (or foreign equivalent) and three (3) years of experience in the job offered, as a Sr. R&D Engineer, or a related occupation.
Job Duties: Design and development of medical devices using cryogenic technology. Specifically, using Joule-Thompson temperature effects and/or liquid nitrogen to freeze needles for cancer treatment. Design new parts, assemblies, and subsystems. Develop effective solutions by application of concepts, techniques, knowledge, and processes to the problems within the field of Mechanical Engineering. Hands-on mechanical design, detailing, documentation, and functional validation of mechanical components and related subassemblies or systems. Create drawings and layouts of new or improved designs in SolidWorks for prototype and manufacturing capable fabrication. Co-lead (with electrical and software team members) project development from mechanical perspective. Perform sustaining engineering work as required; including standards compliance, component obsolesce and end-of-life replacements, NC and CAPA investigation and documentation. Define detailed requirements for mechanical subsystem and components. Find and work with vendors capable of sourcing both off-the-shelf and custom components. Actively participate in the subsystem integration process collaborating with other mechanical, software, and electrical team members. Write technical documentation including requirements, component descriptions, and test methods, verifications, and validations, etc. Create and maintain FDA compliant Design History Files (DHF). Execute process improvements as they relate to quality system compliance with FDA 510(K), QSR, and ISO 13485. Participate in complaint investigations and failure analysis of products. Provide root cause analysis support and drive the implementation of corrective action for process-related issues. Perform other duties as assigned or required.
Special Requirements: Must have experience and/or academic training with each of the following:
Knowledge to develop medical devices capable of transporting high pressure liquid nitrogen Mechanical design of disposable medical devices with diameters less than or equal to 2.4mm Testing of ablation medical devices in tissue Writing product specifications, test protocols, and reports for Class II & Class III medical devices Knowledge of electrocautery & coagulation design & testing Computer Aided Design (3D CAD), Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) & Finite Element Analysis(FEA) ISO 13485 process
Rate of Pay: $140,061.35/year
