This is a role well suited to an ambitious professional, looking for the next step in their career. As a Sustainability innovation and strategic research scientist, you will be responsible for:
Drive collaborative research projects focusing on sustainability in healthcare delivery and access to healthcare.
Conduct life cycle analyses (LCA’s).
Evaluate prototypes and publish results in peer-reviewed journals, present at conferences.
Conduct original research resulting in patent applications.
Develop and manage research collaborations with academic partners to drive sustainability research and translate this knowledge into impacts on products and services.
Develop research prototypes
Support product translation of research prototypes
Participate in knowledge exchange with various businesses and functions within the company to advance Sustainability in Siemens Healthineers’ products and services.
Participate in external sustainable healthcare focused consortia to represent Siemens Healthineers
Write and support extramural research grant applications

Knowledge of Lifecycle Assessment (LCA) tools and methodology
Experience developing LCA’s of products, processes, and services
Analyze data to identify environmental impacts, including carbon footprint, resource consumption, and waste generation.
Data analysis and statistics
Provide strategic recommendations based on LCA insights to improve sustainability performance.
Experience writing academic papers and presenting research at conferences
Required skills to have for the success of this role
Advanced degree in Environmental Science, Sustainability, Engineering, or a related field.
Strong background in LCA methodology and tools.
Proven experience in conducting lifecycle assessments (1-3 years)
Proficiency in LCA software tools (e.g., SimaPro, GaBi, OpenLCA) and data analysis
Strong understanding of LCA frameworks, standards, and methodologies
Demonstrated and applied understanding of data analytics and data storytelling.
Experience writing academic papers and grants
Excellent analytical skills with a keen eye for detail.
Strong collaboration skills and ability to thrive in a dynamic environment.
Outstanding communication and presentation abilities to convey complex information clearly.
Ability to work independently and within a large team
You have the desire to learn, ask questions and be resourceful to identify innovative applications, develop own, creative solutions to complex problems
You are willing and able to travel up to 50%, including short term international trips
Preferred skills to have for the success of this role
Experience in the healthcare industry related to LCA
Experience writing research grant applications
Familiarity with circular economy principles and sustainable product design.
Knowledge of environmental policies and global sustainability trends.

The annual base pay for this position is:
Min $128,100 - Max $192,200Factors which may affect starting pay within this range may include geography/market, skills, education, experience, and other qualifications of the successful candidate.
If this is a commission eligible position the commission eligibility will be in accordance with the terms of the Company's plan. Commissions are based on individual performance and/or company performance.
